Trying to increase your water intake?
We’ve all heard this before – drink more water, it’s good for you. Good for energy levels, digestion, clear skin, healthy liver, etc. etc. etc. We know this already so why aren’t we doing it? Frankly, some of us do not care for water.
I’ve never been a fan of water. For most of my young life I drank regular soda from morning until night and then as an adult I graduated to diet soda. 😧 It was way too easy for me grab a prepackaged drink that tasted great. What is it for you? Sports drinks, energy drinks, sugary juice, a coffee cocktail, or other drinks with a misleading marketing label? 🥤☕️🍹 The good news is I was finally able to reduce my diet soda habit to one or less a day. 🎉
The tips below have helped me tremendously. They were so easy to add to my everyday life. I just needed to swap 🔄 old habits with better ones (that I actually enjoy). My body and mind thank me!
Add a few drops 💧 of essential oil* to a glass of water to make it more enticing. (Use stainless steel or glass only – no plastic.) Besides making your water taste great, you’ll also get all the amazing benefits that essential oils have to offer.
Peppermint and spearmint essential oil are invigorating and energizing. Putting just a tiny drop in a glass of water will put a pep in your step and give you fresh breath. A must have for that afternoon slump and great before a workout!
Citrus essential oils are absolutely delicious! 🍋🍊Orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, and Citrus Fresh blend are some great choices. Most of us have heard the recommendation to drink a glass of lemon water first thing in the morning for increased energy and metabolism. Did you know – lemon essential oil does not have the same harsh effect on your teeth as lemon juice. Learn more here.
Add a few ounces of juice to a glass of ice cold water. It makes the water more tasty but has less calories and sugar than an entire glass of juice. Choose your juice wisely. Labels can be deceiving. You want to drink actual fruit juice not additives that manufacturers may add to it. I highly recommend Ningxia Red from Young Living. It’s made from the Chinese wolfberry, a super fruit (similar to the gogi/açaí berry). It tastes delicious and is a whole body supplement with an abundance of antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, and other good for you things! You only need 1-2 ounces a day to reap its benefits. If you prefer carbonated drinks like I do, choose sparkling water. This really helps if you’re trying to kick the soda habit. Dress it up with essential oils* or a few ounces of juice as described above. My favorite way to drink my water is to add 1-2 ounces of Ningxia Red to a glass of sparkling water over ice with a drop of Citrus Fresh Vitality essential oil. It is just sweet and bubbly enough to take away my cravings for diet soda. I prefer this over the flavored sparkling water sold in stores because I know exactly what ingredients are used to get the flavor.
